Moving on from Ascona, our route took us through the Gottard Tunnel (17Km) – baking hot and boring. Nuff said.
Much better are the two mountain passes that we then took – the Furkapass and the Grimselpass. Amazing views, terrifying drops, tight hairpins, wet roads (snow and ice at altitude!) Fantastic!
Stupidly, I stopped twice on the Furkapass to take photos – and both times the car would not start for about 15 minutes. Damn that immobiliser :-( Great fun driving though.
Also, saw a wild Marmot which inhabit these mountains – didn't stop to get a photo obviously ;-) It looked like a chubby stoat or weasel with a shorter tail. Apparently young Phil (or possibly Abbey his girlfriend thought that it was a monkey – much to the amusement of all over the evening meal in Interlaken – see next post for the best quote of the week...
